PS: further examination shows my cover is hooped - as it has a giant gash, and is pushed inward (sharp edges, may contact the clutch plates, mag dont bend back into shape all that well....), so I'm not gonna add any mass to the inside.
And, as a fellow 690 rider has a clutch cover with minimal damage, that'll tide me over till the new cover arrives
