Now I've been reading this thread
and from what I can tell, the old carbs would be a lot better with a more modern choke/enrichener bodies and solid cables. I'm seeing some in the parts fiche at Max's but I'm not sure which is the upgrade. If anybody could throw a part # my way for the cables and bodies, I'd greatly appreciate it.
A local BMW mechanic came by yesterday and showed me the plug shorting method to sync them up. The left carb seemed like it was nearly closed, but it's actually running pretty great now. The guy was great and seemed like he didn't want any money for picking his brain. I gave him some cash and let him run around the block a few times though. He offered to buy it on the spot, so I suppose he misses his old one a bit. He was on a K bike, which is rare around here as well.
