I was gutted, too, that the real showdown at Valencia never came.
But Jorge and Pedro both had 2 DNF's this year, and of these both made one mistake on their own, while the other was out of their hands (taken out by another rider).
Lorenzo had one hell of a crash today, I'm glad he was okay.
