I never wished for a 6th on my DR650SE.
On the other hand, on my CBF1000 (I-4, 6-speed, 15% more HP but same torque as the CB1100) the gears are closer than they need to be, and the RPM at 125 KPH (75 MPH) is 5,000 (red-line is 10,000). The CBF would be a better highway bike for 125 / 75 plus speeds if 6th were a much taller, overdrive to drop the RPMs and reduce vibration. I wish it had a 7th!
I didn't say it needed a sixth gear, only that it would be nice. I mean I could get by just fine without a sixth gear on my SV650, but it sure is nice to have it.
