Nah... not strictly "desert races" as such... there is an event called the South Australia 24 Hour Reliability Trial, where the competiors race around the clock on terrain which would be closest to a cross between open enuro/ISDE offroad and US Hare and Hound/Cross County type terrain. Not much flat out 5th and 6th gear stuff - like in Baja or Desert racing - but it's still rough, tiring and (a big percentage of the race) is at night.

Most of the top riders use Baja style oversized fron lighting systems and even helmet mounted lamps... oh, and did I mention... it's for 24 hours!
