Thanks for sharing this intermission backstory. Contingency plans are only as good as the weakest link. End of the day survival is all about the water (flushing toilets in this case).

Appropriately, I read this editorial to my mom while waiting in a surgery pre-op room at Providence hospital. I prefixed the narrative with, we're 400ft above sea level. Then thinking to myself about the pressure building cascadia subduction zone off our NW coast .

I truly believe that the experiences and life lessons we receive on these multi-day dual-sport rides, really help keep the day to day life things in perspective.
