BCC to Yarnell the fun way

AZ Tom, myself and a couple others met yesterday for a fun ride between BCC and Yarnell taking the gas line road down around the south end of Lake Pleasant, up Buckhorn wash to Blue Bell road and then north to Yarnell. The days ride for me looked like this. However, I came up from Phoenix and the other three came down from Prescott and we met at Table Mesa rd.

The first of the four dropped out after 10 miles of gas line road and so we were down to a fearsome trio.
A quick snack stop after completing the sandy Buckhorn wash section.

We kept up a pretty good pace and did not stop much to take pictures. Next stop wasn't until the water hole in Box Canyon north of Wickyburg.

As we came up to the water hole, I approached from the right side and decided it was too deep. I spun around and scoped out the left side which seemed a little shallower. Having an audience makes one braver and so I plunged on through to come out the other side slightly wet but victorious!
The Kawasaki followed but his line was just a couple feet to the left of mine where it was a tad deeper.

Stalled it! Oh mannnn, wet feet!

Luckily it started right back up pulled him the rest of the way out. I've assured AZ Tom that his line is a good one... I just don't think he wanted to get his feet wet.

Finally, he plunges in... also emerge victoriously on the other side.

You gotta understand that us Arizona riders get a real kick outta seeing some water and sometimes aren't sure what to do when we find some... take pictures!

The rest of the canyon was wet but uneventful.

From here, we just hauled butt up to Yarnell. Due to our late start and an evening engagement with my kids, I slabbed it all the way back home... about as much fun as watching paint dry. AZ Tom and the Kawasaki guy had an equally exciting finish to their day as they slabbed it back to Prescott from Yarnell. We've got to start earlier next time guys!

Hey Tom, I was thinking that next time instead of backtracking left at the end of the canyon, that we should finish the loop road and try going right instead.
It's not the limits of the bike... it's the limits of the rider on the bike.
