if you draw too much extra current with your lights, the CAN-Bus may shut down the brake-light circuit leaving you with no brake lights at all ... CAN-Bus systems do not have regular "fuses" - instead the computer just turns off the circuit if it detects an over-current condition.
The Hyperlight system gets around the extra current draw problem by just using the brake light circuit as the "trigger" to engage the Hyperlights, while using a separate power tap to actually draw the power to make the lights work ...
either a fuse block or "stealing" from the alarm/tire pressure circuit.
