USD conversion.

Welp, after doing 65 miles today in likely some of the gnarliest riding in Florida, realized my front suspension is...err, not quite adequate for my new found riding habits. So, having just sold (and in the process) of selling a few of my unused bikes, came to the conclusion I want to go ahead and an USD conversion.

I have an 86 model; rear shock as already been reworked, and it's fine (though, I may need a new spring soon). I know the 89 CR front end/steam slide right in, but what about later model CRF450 forks? A gent local to me has a 2005 CRF450R with a grenaded motor, and wants next to nothing for it (wheels are straight and true; I can probably part the rest of the bike out to cover my costs). I've read and heard about alignment issues with the steering stops; what's all of your solutions?

Just looking for different ideas before I go off spending $$$ on forks and a machinist.
