An electric sander would do a much quicker job. when you get to the 600 grit and above, it will save your fingers also. It would get a mirror shine on the blade if my fingers did not cramp up. If you have the saw blade on the back of the blade, be careful not to chew up your sander!

It is not easy, but if you are a shine-a-holic like I am, it is worth it.
