Try it in the wet - the rails are nice and slippery...
It was one of three I know of in the South Island and at least 2 of them are gone now (and I think the third as well). We have quite a few one lane bridges around the place (esp off the beaten track) - no issue as long as people have their wits about them and obey the signage.
