Heavy rain or a solid splash across these oiled foam air filters doesn't put the fire out or cause problems that I have experienced - but I'm not big on deep water crossings that you may be fine with.
An airbox inlet under the seat (probably as good as it gets as far as height goes) is only ~ 100mm above the height of these air filters.
