One guy, Joe Pichler, is currently testriding the new 1190 through East-Africa. According to his sayings http://www.josef-pichler.at/
the throttle control is much smoother than with the previous 990. On the other hand the ground clearance is reduced.
Might be a reason to wait and test, as this are really two issues to consider. I'm owing a "R" and am really happy with it, especially the clearance helped a lot on previous trips, while the (relatively) rough or better direct
throttle needs to be handled.
