Yep. Kids now-a-days (in many places) can't even go into their own front yards or walk to school without some sort of supervision. How's a kid going to learn how to be independent with those sorts of restrictions?

I'll probably check out the Hobbs range. I'm ok with shooting at paper too. And, since beer cans quit being made of steel, they're not as much fun to shoot anyway.

Hobbs State Park has a free 100 yd range, not sure if you can shoot cans and water jugs, but paper targets are fine.
