One trip to Baja California Sur I hit a pig. Another trip down there I hit a goat. Fortunately both times I was driving a Mazda B2200 pickup. I've come close to hitting horses and cows there several times. I'm glad that it didn't turn out worse for you and that your riding partners avoided the flying debris.
