So what does Honda do? Take a niche bike like the VFR800 and make it more "nichy" and price it higher than a base K1300S.
Honda desperately needs an updated sport touring bike..

I can see the issue with someone looking at buying a new sport-touring/just-touring-but-not-a-luxo-barge ride. The ST1300 is starting to trail the field in technical features, especially cruise control. But if you own one now, I can't see anything compelling enough to trade it or sell it unless you're just wanting out of the niche. Engine heat aside, it's still a fantastic ride.
