The RS is great, but I'd like to try something new that's easy to do some touring on, is good on gas, but is still sporty (and fast). I'm afraid if I step down in engine size too much I'll start missing the power I have now.

Thanks in advance for sage advice!
I owned a Sprint ST955i before i bought a ZX14. The triple engin is awsom so why dont try a ST1050?
i have been touring europe and riding the alps and wht i did not exepect of the ZX was that it was a more comfy tourer then the ST. The power of the ZX is very smoth and civilized with with normal throtlle use.
You cold also look at a CBR1100XX witch also gives great comfort for touring.
Going from RS to VFR you will have the same HP but lose som tourq. But the VFR is a good bike, but il bet youl miss that triple engin, i do somtimes.
