I've got both othe HF metric sets. Do recall which o-ring you used? The thicker ones looked too thick to me.
I may try again today. After pulling it off to inspect it is leaking even worse.

Stock size is 27.5mm x 2.5mm
The stock o-ring is under $0.35 each from Munn. I'll get some coming today. The original lasted over 25000 miles.
