More into my BW200 kick start rebuild

Well did some looking today and it appears that directly underneath the clutch assembly there is a insert (surrounded by black plastic) that looks like another shaft goes into.. any idea what this is for? I am assuming it is for the shaft in the diagram below that has no # attached to it.. what part would this be?

You can somewhat see the black plastic circle in which the center is a hole, directly underneath the clutch.

I've never really worked much on engines, can someone give me an explanation of what actually happens when you press on the kickstart lever? What are the gears actually rotating?

looks like I am missing some parts on the decompression shaft too.. might as well order those up.

decompression shaft removed:
