I have CVDs on my crawler, and basically resulted in trashing the transmission multiple times until I'd replaced every "weak" link in there.
The shafts would break "occasionally" on me, and were cheap and easy to replace.
Having to take apart the transmission and rebuild it was a pain.
Keeping the "fuse" an easy to replace part is a lot easier for fun. For competitions, you need to replace all the "easy to break parts" but that gets pricey.
