Not sure how BMW's supplier does it, but the company I worked for at one time, did it under vacuum in order to get full "impregnation" (not motorcycle stators ... transformers) .. which is expensive..............
Well when we get a few extra bucks, we'll buy a spare just in case they only last a year. It's only a half hour job to change it, if necessary.
I wonder if I could put the quick disconnect, or something similar, inside the engine cover? That way I could get the changing down to 15 minutes.
