Itsatdm's assessment is virtually the same as mine with my 2009. Had I bought a 2012, my visits to the dealers would have been less frequent. I would expect the redesigned 2013 to be even better.

As for the suspension, just do the upgrades now, rather than "wearing out" the OEM components. You're buying the bike for recreation and pleasure, right? You will enjoy your expensive bike much more from the get-go.
