If you are doing the static weight balancing there would be no way of knowing which side was out. I generally just put weights on one side unless I need alot. I've got spoke weights on the KLR and KTM, stickon on the ST. The KTM bounced quite violently on the road as it had only one wheel lock and no weights. After balancing, 3 oz front and 4 rear, its been fine.
