The OP's situation where his dealer didn't just say "sorry, you're out of warranty" is true test of their customer service.

A&S Powersports in Sacramento is the same way. I feel fortunate to have them so available. And, their Parts dept. can get anything you find anywhere, and they price-match everything. Maybe that's why they win BMW Customer services awards.

Good to hear others having the same experience.
