Gee there is a flash back
I bought an R100RS rolling chassis and Motor and gearbox (now in my R80G/S) to build a bike, R1100RT Swingarm wheels. I was measuring and checking, but the change in offset of the shaft in the swingarm necessitated moving the right swiangarm pivot out a fair way, approx 15mm.
We had an R1 frame and did some playing, as I didnt own the frame we just mocked it up
The engine would have fitted in but needed to come up in the frame further. The loops on the frame would have needed to be removed and the swingarm pivot raised accordingly. We contemplated cutting at the weld above the pivot, and machining a new pivot much higher.
It looked cool but a lot of work and got to the point of being easier to build a completely new frame and swingarm.
