I agree. Ferguson embodied United's anger and lack of focus. They didn't adjust to their new circumstance until Madrid had put two quick goals by them. As you say, Madrid immediately changed their personnel (Modric, Kaka) to bring on men who can play in the middle and play with possession.
Perhaps Mourinho knows how to adjust because he's had so many players sent off in CL games over the years. Seemed like it wasn't a proper CL campaign unless Chelsea had at least one sending-off.
