Boy, that thing must have been making some serious noise, the bearing cage is no longer present. What forewarning did you have? Did anything show up when you changed final drive oil? The only other one I have seen like this was also on a GS , are they more prone to this?

Usually a transmission will warn you by showing garbage in, and/or discolored gear oil, just curious if the final drive is like that also.
Speed doesn't kill, It's always the sudden stop that gets ya...
