The serendipity lays within the inadvertent nature of the fact that Renault was chosen to provide Pirelli with a chassis.
It isn't a lucky happenchance that Renault (now Lotus) are able to access the Pirelli data while maintaining the donor car. How anyone thought that they could be isolated from tyre test feedbck while maintaining the car for Pirelli is curious.
