That's my strategy too. I don't do anything to my mowers/rototiller over winter, and they start every summer... so far. I make a point to ride each of my bikes at least an hour each couple weeks figuring that will help avoid problems.
The only problem I've had with a fuel system was when I added a Seafoam, I believe it cleaned the gunk out of my tank right into my jets.
