Thanks to everyone who gave information on sprockets. I'm heading to Home Depot or some such place to see about getting what I need to make both a brake, and shift snake, probably attach to the Ricochet.

Weather finally gave me a chance to get 80 miles on the bike yesterday, mostly back roads, but some nice offroad where I had never been which included a small stream crossing, and plenty of mud. It seemed to take it all in stride. Probably be better with a D606, but I'll wear the original out first, which shouldn't take long, if the weather holds out. I'm at nearly 900 miles now.
