IMO, first and foremost, shop for what you want. Then comes, can you afford it. Next comes match the condition to number of miles. Low miles means a lot more if you look at the bike as a commodity. I've always bought bikes based on what kind of riding I do, not how much resale I expect. If you get a GS with higher miles but it obvious that it is well maintained, miles can be a non-issue. Buying a bike is a lot like picking a wife, if it looks good, grab it. (then again looks can be deceiving )
