The official response to water resistance/proofness is that they are highly water resistant. The manufacturer of Cordura won't say 100% water proof. Someone earlier on this thread did claim that after a couple hour ride in the rain that they did not let water in.

They will fit over the barkbuster guards.

Just like any Cordura, just spray them with silicone water protectant. Then your good to go... I've sprayed my bedrolls from brady (Thanx again for my tent and bedroll tubes) and my Aerostich tank panniers for years and they're always dry inside.

Just ordered a set of these Brady... have been using a set of Katahdin gauntlets for a few years and looks like yours may offer much better entry and protection. WIll test them in Labrador end of this month first of May.
