You seem to be remembering the Pre-Speedvison days. Once coverage went to them, until DMG took over, I can't recall ever a race not being televised. I've been watching Speedvison coverage of AMA road racing since at least 1998.
I remember the "American Sports Cavalcade" coverage on TNN, and a few races on some obscure sports channels that preceeded Speedvison. Those
were spotty coverage. I don't think they ever did a full season in one year.
