I never saw any indication that it doesn't work. High-end mechanical watches are more maintenance intensive than cheap quartz watches. I have plenty of both. My Timex and Casio watches are accurate two within a 10-20 seconds per year and require nothing more than a new $3 battery every few years. My Rolex and Omega watches are accurate to within 1-2 minutes per month and require a few hundred dollars worth of maintenance every 5 years or so. Simply the nature of the beasts.
Same is true of my wife's Lotus and our Subarus. One requires a lot more TLC than the others. But there's a place for all of them in our world. :)
