Back in the day, the great majority of "hot rods" were just stripped down old cars. Nothing fancy. And most spent much of their lives in gray primer. I owned some neat old cars, including a '40 Ford convertible and a '29 Ford roadster pickup, but I didn't have the money to do much with them. I had a wife, a baby, and a job that just about paid my expenses.
