Albany to Austin relocation

So, I'm potentially planning to visit Austin TX for a couple months this summer/fall

Leaving between July and September as I want to see my sister Graduate HS, and stay with my family for my birthday.

This is my first cross country trip. Beyond Akron /Gettysburg I will definitely be riding solo

Bike is a 1986 BMW R80RT.

Here is the basic route I have planned

Albany> Akron 500 miles (Stay with friends)
Akron> Nashville 500 miles (unknown)
Nashville> Little Rock 350 miles (unknown)
Little Rock> Austin 500 miles

Or Alternate

Albany> Gettysburg PA 334 (definitely camp out) See battlefields, etc
Gettysburg> Knoxville 500 (unknown)
Knoxville> Little Rock 500 (unknown)
Little Rock> Austin 500 (most recent intelligence leads me to probably hop on the natchez trace and bypass Little Rock)

BUDGET:

Delta Airlines 1 way ticket costs $430 US

I imagine I could do this on a moto with 500, the advantages include SEEING America and not getting molested by TSA, and of course: Having reliable transportation once I reach my destination

I usually get around 200 miles per tank, including some of the reserve.

So I've calculated 150 miles per tank with some reserve left,

12 refuels at 5 dollars a gallon. 300+ dollars for gas

This is on superslab, simply because it would be quickest.

Navigation will be done via maps and android.

I'm going to ride rather light. I'll have changes of clothes, a laptop of some sort, tent, sleeping bag, pillow in case I need to KOA it.

Maybe 2 sets of nice clothes for when I get there, more stuff can be UPS'd down.

So I'm looking for information. information. information......

Cool stuff to divert off the superslab for :)

Riding Company

Good twisties

Tech/mechanical advisement

Coffee/bacon and eggs

Places to stay (couches, tent space)

Spiritual guru

I will expand this as the time closes and I decide whether to pull the trigger on this endeavor or not:)

By all means PM me here, or email me/text call
