see how the splines kind of flare out right at the end? i don't know if new countershafts look like that already (e.g. that flared bit is meant to stop the sprocket coming off if you lost the bolt), or if it is a sign of a worn countershaft?
just figured you might have an idea since you bought a brand new one to fit.
by the way, did you wind up fitting a cush hub? liking it?
Splines look ok, but you need a new countershaft seal kit.
