After saying goodbye to Clay we headed north to rejoin the TET. There we found lots of this:
I counted 4 million or so of these switchbacks. If you doubt me, go ride it. You'll be happy you did. We climbed back and forth and then descended into hollows only to do it again and again. I kept thinking, why are these roads here? At the moment the answer was simple...to provide a great ride for Garth and me.
Two hours later we popped out onto pavement:
There was a sign warning us to beware of the broken pavement. Yeah, whatever, we ride dirt roads so no worries. As you can see in the picture, the sign lied. We had very new pavement and more switchbacks. The only concern was the loose stones that were randomly located in the corners. It looked like tractor trailer rigs kicked them up while cutting the turns.
