Day one on the TAT- Tellico Plains to Fayetteville ~220 miles
We got a good nights rest and breakfast at The Lodge in Tellico. Frank, the owner, was awesome and gave us a room with a garage. I never had a motel room with a garage. The garage is a great place to change tires for the TAT which we did not need to do thank to leepic.
We went to the gas station I almost had the 1st get off of the trip. Always watch where you put your foot down. Oil is slippery!
Finally got off asphalt into some gravel road. We hit 4 stream crossing today. They are one right after the other at the bottom of the 1st hill right at the start of the TAT in Tellico.
As usual, Kirkster never met a stream he didnít want to taste. Today was no exception.
While grabbing his bike from itís watery nap, Kirkster noticed a loose tank bolt. Out of the water and onto the ground he goes.
Kirk had it fixed up in no time and we headed west again.
BTW, TN has every kind of gravel known to man. Some as big as quarter, and some extra slippery gravel sand. The biggest piles of gravel are usually where you hit the corner exit throttle. Beware.
A good portion of the day was spent on asphalt roads with really beautiful vistas and twisty roads. Even though it rained for 1.5 hours, itís really worth the ride.
We stopped about 5:30 at the Best Western in Fayetteville. No garage, but the Front desk let us park at the front entrance where they could watch the bikes.
About an hour later a freak micro storm blew part of the flat roof off the hotel. Luckily no one was hurt. Our bikes remained standing in front of the hotel under the portico.
We are going to try to get an early start tomorrow and get more pics on our way to Mississippi.
