The only time I feel a connection is when I stop at a scenic picnic table in some remote area and come across a hiker, cycler or adventurous SUV. Then the conversation is usually "Beautiful day eh?" followed by "Sure is." And in those few words a thousand thoughts are expressed.
I do stop at a friends shop (Dual Port Touring) and get to talk to fellow adventure riders, typically its........
"so where have you been?"
then a long discussion about the back roads and how we almost got lost.
This is opposed to stopping at the gas station in Tellico Plains where I fill up,
move to some spot away from the crowd,
have a cold drink,
and leave without much more than a disgusted look from the other people on bikes.
