Yes, I think crash bar mounting could work. The issue I see there, though, is that some brands of crash bars must be removed when valve clearance inspection is required, so this might mean having to disconnect the lights as well, and depending on how precisely the crash bars align, re-aiming. I also want to be sure that I do not block air flow to the radiators. For those reasons, I prefer a mounting solution that is not dependent on any other accessory. Sure, the interval on the GS-W is 12k miles, but whenever I can, I like to set things up to avoid extra effort down the line.
From all appearances, you make an excellent product, and there a re loads of GSs out there that your "close to turn signal" mounts will fit. I will certainly take a close look again, should you develop a mounting solution for the new boxers.
