I had 2 '66 coupes, a '64 1/2 coupe, and a '66 convertible, but still think your vintage fastbacks are the best looking.
We managed to sandwich a 351 Cleveland into one of the '66 coupes, with a worked C-4 and a 9" rear. Painted it up like a Shelby, Guardsman Blue with Wimbledon White stripes. It was an absolute beast, you could actually feel the body twist a little when you got on it, and it chirped the tires on each shift.
The ragtop went from a 3spd 6 cyl. to a 302 4spd, with gas shocks up front and air shocks in the rear, quick steering, Shelby lowered front suspension, poly bushings all around, front export brace, and a large sway bar in the rear. Handling wasn't too shabby.
