I'm planning to ride out to the MAFFS 7 memorial this weekend.
MAFFS stands for Modular Airborne Fire Fighting System (IIRC or something very similar)
It's what the Air National Guard is able to fit to a number of their C-130s so they can lend a hand when all other resources are being utilized.
Last summer on July 1st 2012 MAFFS 7 crashed in the Black Hills of South Dakota killing 4 of the crew, including my friend Robbie Cannon who was the Flight Engineer and a Sr. Msgt.
Although I had never met Pilot Joe McCormick I would soon realize that he was married to the daughter of an old friend.
I'll be meeting Happy Riding in Custer, SD on Monday evening and accompanying her to deliver donations for the maint. of the memorial that were collected at BYOB, that will be done on Tue.
I don't remember ever seeing Robbie without a smile.
I'm going to post a stalker link but will try and be a good guest and not pinpoint anybody's home.....will just click the OK message out on the edge of the greater metro area(s).
p.s. that won't show anything until I get on the road Saturday....
The route should look something like this http://goo.gl/maps/BS2Od
