From memory the Hepco bars sit quite close to the cylinder head and in a serious off could crack the head. I have the SW-Motech bars and my bike has taken a 12 metre tumble down a cliff and landed on its side and the crash bars took the full impact, landing so hard it bent them so they were pointing in the opposite direction and only just marked the head. I'm still in the process of repairing the bike and will let you know if it caused any serious damage but on the surface the SW-Motech stuff are the bollocks and well worth considering. The clutch cover has minor scratchings but hasn't punctured it.
