It's not so much that the 800 is more road than dirt (although to some degree it is) as it is that the 800 is not that much better in the dirt than the 1150. I was actually disappointed how the 800 did in the dirt. It took a lot of suspension work to make it appreciably better in the dirt than the 1150/1200.

The only big bike I have ever felt was really good in the dirt was the KTM 950. It's scary how good that bike is in the dirt. Somehow, it seems to defy physics.
