Okay, let's see how this works.

In 100 seconds, my moped travels one mile: its speed is 36 miles per hour.

In 1 second, your intercontinental missile travels one mile: its speed is 3600 miles per hour.

So, the ICBM is 99 per cent faster than the moped. Right?
