I think the ignition system from the blown motor would need moved onto the new motor. Read that in a thread of a guy who switched from efi back to carbs on a bike.
The wire harness on the 990 is very different from the wire harness on the 950.
I was assuming he would want to run the 990 engine as a fuel injected engine. If so, the 950 harness won't work.
The 990 duke engine also has a different gear ratio btw, something to consider.
But it's all doable!
