I didn't say a "hunch" was probable cause.
A cop who calls for K9 frequently, or who searches a lot of vehicles may just be very proactive. He may be on a interdiction unit, or other anti drug unit. I know lots of cops that have searched lots of cars (with and without the assistance of a K9) that have been around a long time. They're generally good cops that know the law.
