Little things make a difference, I used a paper thin gasket on the primary drive cover , a different clutch basket & alloy pressure plate meant there was not enough clearance so the basket & plate rubbed on the outer cover. 2 X normal thickness gaskets seems to be the answer , no noises , clutch that clutches , gearbox does it's gearboxy thing, no noises . Will put the primary belt back on & try next weekend.
Also replaced the throttle cables & Amal throttle assembly with a Tomaselli quick action assembly & new cables . I should have known.
Why is wog shit is never quite plug & play , had too mess with cable outer lengths to make it all work, could not possibly be Triumph stuff at fault.
