Only caveat is that if the right turn involves getting into a marked bicycle lane before the right turn, then you can get a ticket. Other than that, it's all fair game.
Don't forget the 200' rule in California, though...

(3) To prepare for a turn within a distance of 200 feet from the intersection.
I used that all the time to squirt past 4 or so cars when I was turning right but they weren't.

to block the bike lane for some unspecified distance when turning, 21717 VC
. People that turn across bike lanes p!ss me off because most of them don't use their blinkers.)
